RBD Electronics offers both surface mount and thru-hole technology. Our thru-hole equipment is designed for quick set-up. If your assembly requires extensive hand labor, our skilled workforce can provide detailed hand assembly according to IPC-A-610 Class II in both Leaded and RoHS Classifications.

Surface Mount:

RBD is currently manufacturing Surface Mount printed circuit board assemblies to the IPC-A-610 requirement, in both Leaded and RoHS specifications. The Contact C5 and C5d handle a full range of components from a single platform, providing flexibility and high-speed placement. It can place a wide range of components from the 0402 footprint to large leaded integrated circuits, including fine pitch devices and BGA's up to 3 inches square. With in-house x-ray, RBD also offers an efficient means of inspection of both BGA and Micro-BGA components.

Thru-hole:

RBD is currently manufacturing Thru-Hole printed circuit board assemblies to the IPC-610 requirement, in both leaded and RoHS specifications. We offer both fully automatic and semi-automatic insertion capabilities. Utilizing the Universal 6287A, axial components can be auto-inserted into your circuit board assemblies at a very high rate of speed and accuracy. High mix thru-hole production is built using the Contact Systems CS400C. We currently have 8 machines running two shifts, making it easy for us to handle small volume, quick turn or higher volume assemblies.

RBD’s capabilities include wave solder operation using the Hollis Future I machine, which can handle boards up to 18" square. Programmable selective soldering is handled by two Ace KISS 103 machines. This equipment offers fully automated selective soldering, whether it is solder side or component side, thus eliminating all hand solder operations.

Testing:

RBD visually inspects under magnification, 100% of all products that are produced to make sure it meets all customer qualifications and expectations. Depending on volume and complexity, we may optically inspect your product by using AOI, automated optical inspection. The IOI 4000 accurately detects component-level defects, such as reversed polarity and missing, damaged and wrong components. The system detects lead-level defects, such as bridging and insufficient solder, for components as small as 16-mil pitch. If your product requires testing, RBD can offer in-circuit testing with the Genrad 2287A. Additionally, RBD can functionally test your assemblies using either customer supplied test equipment or our own in-house designed test equipment.
